Jigs can now be linked and loaded from inside a Jig. When immersed in a Jig on Apple Vision Pro, you can now seamlessly go from your current Jig, to another Jig, without re-tracking or leaving your environment.
You can even go from one Jig to another Jig in multiplayer mode using SharePlay, and your team will go with you.
Viewing Jigs linked together
Actions are triggered on Vision Pro when you tap an object with an action with your hand or finger, or gaze at the object and pinch your thumb and forefinger together, in the same way you select regular buttons.
When triggered, a Go-to-Jig action will immediately load the target Jig without leaving immersive mode. Your current world tracking and anchor settings will be retained, so you don't need to place or track to an image again.
If you want to go back to the previous Jig, a breadcrumb showing you the way back is displayed in the main instruction panel. Just tap on previous location you want to reload and you'll be returned to the previous Jig and the step position where you left.
Adding actions to your Jigs
When editing a Jig, add a ‘Go to Jig’ action to a 3D model, image, or textbox, and attach the link of the Jig that you want viewers to go to when they click on objects on Apple Vision Pro. If you want this action to apply to all steps in your presentation, ensure you toggle on 'Apply to all steps'.
Use cases
Go-to-Jig Actions solve some common challenges with immersive spatial experiences as well as opening up new creative ways to keep your viewers engaged or to direct them to more relevant 3D content.
Optimizing Jig sizes: if your Jigs are too lengthly, or contain too much 3D content (i.e. millions on polygons) you can split your Jigs into smaller sized 3D presentations, with each Jig containing a smaller number of 3D models or mesh data. Check their size with the performance indicator, and once you are ready, link them together with Go-to-Jig actions.
Chapters or sequences: if your instructional content or training content is lengthy, consider splitting it into chapters or units that viewers can proceed to at the completion of their instructions. Using JigSpace's built in analytics this will give you great insight into completion drop off rates, and create more discrete sections of progress to guide viewers through.
Varied levels of detail: you can use Jigs that show a range of information, such as a factory worksite or virtual showroom, using lower-detailed models that link into specific Jigs about those machines or products when your viewers interacts with that model. When they want to go back, they click on the menu and are returned to the main immersive space to continue browsing or following a workflow.
Related 3D content: add title cards or menus of related content to your Jig to keep your viewers engaged longer, or to help them find the most relevant content. You can choose to link to similar Jigs only at the end of your Jigs, or make a always visible menu in the background for your viewers to select and jump to at any time.
